2011 Marching Band Accomplishments

The band competed in their 30th OMEA State Marching Band Finals on this past Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in Dublin Jerome Stadium. The marching Scotties received three ratings of “Excellent” and four ratings of “Superior” for an overall “Superior” rating at State Finals.
The band has had a very successful season leading up to this year’s state finals. The band has achieved the following in the 2011 marching season:
- Third place in Class A at Cambridge
- First place in Class A at Maysville, River View, and Meadowbrook
- First place in Percussion in Class A at 2 contests
- First place in Auxiliary in Class A at 2 contests
- First place Field Commander in Class A at River View
- Overall Best Field Commander at River View
- Overall Best Music
- Overall Best General Effect
- Overall Best Percussion
- Overall Auxiliary at 2 contests
- Grand Champion of Class A and AA
- Received straight Superiors at 2 contests
- Received a rating of Superior qualifying them for their 30th OMEA State Marching Band Finals 4 times
- 1 of 117 bands to qualify and participate in OMEA State Marching Finals
- 1 of 35 class A bands to receive a Superior rating at State Finals
The Marching Scotties have received a “Superior” at State Marching finals a total of 12 times (’85, ’86, ’87, ’90, ’91, ’92, ’97, ’06, ’08, ’09, ’10, and ‘11). Six of these have been while Ms. Blevins has been the head director--(1997-2011).
